Your perfect mountain brew awaits!
Located in the repurposed historic school building, Trager Brothers Coffee is a roastery and coffee bar. Follow your nose through the community center to Classroom 17, where you'll be greeted by friendly baristas. Be sure to pick up a bag or two of their delicious beans after ordering. Then, take your Honey Lavender Latte or cup of Blend 90 outside to enjoy the scenery from picnic tables. There is even a play area for kids to get their wiggles out while you sip. This is a wonderful stopover if you've been staying at Wintergreen or camping at Devil's Backbone!
Drinks
Trager Brothers prepare all manner of coffees at this adorable walk-up cafe. While the staff loves to get wild with naturally flavored latte creations (think Vanilla Rose and Honey Lavender), the show's real star is the freshly roasted coffee in its pure form.
Each 12 oz. bag costs a reasonable $13, save for the occasional limited-series single-origin coffee. Standard single-origin coffees are Colombian, Mexican, Guatemalan, and Ethiopian, each distinctly representative of their respective climates.
House and holiday blends are available and widely used in restaurants and diners all over the region. The signature Trager Brothers' dark roasts are deep, dark, and oily—think Starbucks, but how it must have tasted in mid-1980s Seattle. The French Sumatran roast is one of the best examples of this brooding, pungent trend.
Menu
There is no food here—just delicious coffee! Nearby food options include the Nelson County Farmer's Market on Saturday morning or Basic Necessities (just a few minutes south).
Pros
Excellent, freshly roasted, deep-flavored coffee
Cons
Early closing hours, no food menu
Alternatives
Grit Coffee, Mudhouse Coffee (Crozet location)
